Egg in a Hole

Yield: 1 serving / Time: 10 min.

INGREDIENTS

  • Butter
  • Thick slice really good sourdough bread
  • Pasture raised preferably organic egg
  • Tienda Salsita salsa

PROCESS

Use a cookie cutter or mason jar lid to cut a hole in the middle of bread. Reserve the removed portion to cook.

Heat a heavy cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add butter... lots of butter. When butter is melted plan bread in pan and cutout in pan.

Crack egg into hole in bread. Let cook until brown. You can check your cutout to make sure its perfectly toasted.

Carefully flip egg and bread over to brown on other side. Do this with your cutout bread too.

Choose your salsa to pair with your egg in hole and heat in pan. *The flavor of salsita is more nuanced when warm or room temperature!

Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Transfer to plate and serve. I save the circle for last... it's the best part!

Buen provecho!
